A painting looks better on a canvas mockup than on a white artboard, and this mockup is set up for exactly that.
It’s a handy file for print shops and artists. Tip: muted artwork tends to look better in bright room scenes, while bold colours suit plain walls.
It helps you judge scale too: artwork that looks right on screen can feel tiny once it’s framed in a room.
The file is made by Mockups Design. The download button takes you to their page, where you get the original file and the licence details.
Editable options in the Canvas Mockup PSD
Everything below is on its own layer:
- Artwork, placed through the smart object
- Glass reflection layer
- Shadows on the wall
- Frame colour, where the file offers options
Add your design to the Canvas Mockup
- Choose artwork with the same ratio as the frame (often 2:3, 3:4, 4:5 or an A-size).
- Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
- Drop your artwork in, fit it to the canvas, save and close. The mockup updates by itself.
- Switch the frame colour if the file has options.
- Save a JPG for clients and social media, and keep the PSD for later changes.
Another tip: if you sell prints, show the same artwork in two or three frames so buyers can picture it at home.

Questions about this mockup
What licence does it come with?
Mockups Design sets the licence, and it can differ from file to file. Many free files allow personal and commercial use, but some are personal-only or ask for credit. Read the terms on the download page before a paid project.
How do I add my design?
Open the file in Photoshop, double-click the smart object thumbnail, paste or place your artwork in the new tab, save it (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close. The main file updates on its own.
Which Photoshop version do I need?
A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.
Can I change the frame colour?
Many frame mockups include black, white and wood options or a colour layer for the frame itself. The preview usually shows the options.
