New Year Greeting Card Mockup

What's inside

  • Applications Photoshop
  • File Types PSD
  • License Free (see author's terms)
  • Author Graphic Google

A new year greeting card mockup, made for presenting a wedding invitation. Drop in your artwork and the lighting and shadows stay as they are.

Good pick for Etsy sellers, event planners or anyone putting together a portfolio. Quick tip: dark designs often look flat on paper mockups. Turning the highlight layer up slightly brings back the sheen.

Print jobs are expensive to redo, so a realistic preview before the order goes out is cheap insurance. If you’re building a full identity, pair it with an envelope or letterhead mockup for a matching set.

Credit goes to Graphic Google. We link to their download page rather than re-uploading the file, so check their terms there before commercial use.

Editable options in the New Year Greeting Card Mockup PSD

Everything below is on its own layer:

  • Your design, placed through the smart object
  • Paper or background colour
  • Shadows and highlights on their own layers
  • Paper texture you can turn up or down

Add your design to the New Year Greeting Card Mockup

  1. Set up the design flat at the real print size and keep text inside a safe margin.
  2. Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
  3. Place your design, hide the sample artwork, save, and go back to the main file.
  4. Save a JPG for clients and social media, and keep the PSD for later changes.

Another tip: export your artwork at the size the smart object asks for; scaling a small file up is the usual reason print mockups look soft.

Questions about this mockup

What licence does it come with?

It's free to download, but the licence belongs to Graphic Google. Check their page: it states whether commercial use is allowed and if attribution is needed.

How do I put my artwork on the card?

Find the smart object layer (it has a small icon on its thumbnail), double-click it, place your design, then save and close that tab.

Do I need Photoshop?

Yes. This is a PSD mockup built with smart objects, so you edit it in Adobe Photoshop. Any recent CC version works.

Will my artwork look printed or pasted on?

Most print mockups keep the paper texture and lighting on separate layers above your design, so it takes on the grain and shadows. If it still looks too clean, lower the opacity of your artwork a little.
