Show an art print the way it will actually look: on a big city poster mockup.
Event promoters and illustrators tend to get the most out of files like this. A small tip: outdoor ads are read in a second or two. Big type and one image will look far better in this scene than a busy layout.
It’s also handy for student and portfolio work, when you want to show a campaign that never went live. Show the same visual on a billboard and a flyer to present a consistent campaign.

Big City Poster Mockup: editable parts
Main things you can change in Photoshop:
- Ad artwork, placed through the smart object
- Lighting and shadow layers
- Glow layer for backlit scenes, where included
Add your design to the Big City Poster Mockup
- Keep the ad simple: one image, a short headline and the logo.
- Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
- Paste your design, resize it to fill the area, then save (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close that tab.
- Export with File › Export › Export As: JPG for sharing, PNG for the web.
Another tip: match the brightness of your design to the scene; a very bright graphic in a shaded spot looks pasted in.

Good to know
- Made by Mr.Mockup. The download size and format are listed on their page.
- Check the smart object size before you design, so your artwork fits without stretching.
- Some free mockups ask for credit when you post them. A short line in your caption is enough.
- The preview shows the angle, background and lighting you’ll get.
Need a different angle? The poster mockups category has plenty more free PSD files.
Questions about this mockup
Is it free for commercial use?
It's free to download, but the licence belongs to Mr.Mockup. Check their page: it states whether commercial use is allowed and if attribution is needed.
How do I put my artwork on the poster?
Find the smart object layer (it has a small icon on its thumbnail), double-click it, place your design, then save and close that tab.
Which Photoshop version do I need?
A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.
What ratio should my artwork be?
Open the smart object and check its canvas; design to that ratio. Most outdoor mockups use common print ratios, but it varies from file to file.
