Vintage Invitation Mockup

What's inside

  • Applications Photoshop
  • File Types PSD
  • License Free (see author's terms)
  • Author Pixeden

Need to show a postcard to a client? This vintage invitation mockup does the job in a few minutes.

Useful for Etsy sellers as much as for wedding stationers. One thing worth knowing: if the paper has texture, drop the opacity of your art by a few percent so the grain shows through.

Clients sign off faster when they can picture the finished piece, and a flat PDF rarely does that as well as a photo of the card.

The file is made by Pixeden. The download button takes you to their page, where you get the original file and the licence details.

What’s inside the Vintage Invitation Mockup PSD

The PSD is layered, so you can change:

  • Your design, placed through the smart object
  • Paper or background colour
  • Front and back artwork, where both sides are shown

Editing the Vintage Invitation Mockup, step by step

  1. Set up the design flat at the real print size and keep text inside a safe margin.
  2. Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
  3. Paste your design, resize it to fill the area, then save (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close that tab.
  4. Turn the texture layer up or down to match the paper you’ll print on.
  5. Export a full-size image for your portfolio and a smaller one for social media.

Worth remembering: keep text at least a few millimetres from the edge. The mockup shows the trim, and cramped margins read as a mistake.

Where the Vintage Invitation Mockup works best

  • Present a thank-you card in a client proposal or brand guide.
  • Show a postcard on your online shop or product page.
  • Share a wedding invitation on Instagram, Behance or Dribbble with a real-looking preview.

Before you download

  • Made by Pixeden. The download size and format are listed on their page.
  • Built for Adobe Photoshop. A recent CC version handles the smart objects best.
  • Some free mockups ask for credit when you post them. A short line in your caption is enough.
  • Check the smart object size before you design, so your artwork fits without stretching.

Questions about this mockup

What licence does it come with?

It's free to download, but the licence belongs to Pixeden. Check their page: it states whether commercial use is allowed and if attribution is needed.

How do I put my artwork on the card?

Find the smart object layer (it has a small icon on its thumbnail), double-click it, place your design, then save and close that tab.

Which Photoshop version do I need?

A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.

Will my artwork look printed or pasted on?

Most print mockups keep the paper texture and lighting on separate layers above your design, so it takes on the grain and shadows. If it still looks too clean, lower the opacity of your artwork a little.
