This cream jar mockup is one of the simpler ways to present a cosmetic jar lid or a honey or jam label convincingly.

Good pick for cosmetic brands, Etsy makers or anyone putting together a portfolio. One thing worth knowing: metallic and glossy finishes look best with a little contrast in the label; very flat pastel labels can look printed on paper.

Labels behave differently once they wrap around a shape, and this is where you find out if yours still reads. A shelf of two or three variants in different colours makes a strong hero image.

Works well for

  • A cosmetic jar lid
  • A honey or jam label
  • A candle jar label

Cream Jar Mockup: editable parts

Main things you can change in Photoshop:

  • Label artwork, placed through the smart object
  • Shadows
  • Container colour
  • Background colour

Add your design to the Cream Jar Mockup

  1. Export the label at the size of the smart object.
  2. Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
  3. Paste your design, resize it to fill the area, then save (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close that tab.
  4. Change the background to your brand colour.
  5. Export with File › Export › Export As: JPG for sharing, PNG for the web.

One more thing: labels on curved surfaces compress at the sides, so keep key text in the middle third.

Where the Cream Jar Mockup works best

  • Share a candle jar label on Instagram, Behance or Dribbble with a real-looking preview.
  • Use it as the cover image for a cosmetic jar lid in your portfolio.
  • Present a honey or jam label in a client proposal or brand guide.

Questions about this mockup

What licence does it come with?

It's free to download, but the licence belongs to GraphicPear. Check their page: it states whether commercial use is allowed and if attribution is needed.

How do I put my artwork on the jar?

Find the smart object layer (it has a small icon on its thumbnail), double-click it, place your design, then save and close that tab.

Which Photoshop version do I need?

A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.

Will the label bend with the shape?

Good curved-product mockups use a warp so the label wraps around. The preview shows it: if the edges of the label curve away, it does.
