Need to show a side mark to a client? This hat mockup does the job in a few minutes.

Good pick for merch shops, sports teams or anyone putting together a portfolio. Quick tip: place the design as a flat PNG with a transparent background, then let the fabric displacement do the folds.

Print-on-demand shops use images like this for listings, so the realism of the folds matters more than people think. Add a hoodie or sweatshirt shot next to it and you have a basic collection page.

The file is made by Free PSD Templates. The download button takes you to their page, where you get the original file and the licence details.

What you can edit in this Hat Mockup

Open it in Photoshop and you can change:

  • Print design, placed through the smart object
  • Folds and wrinkles that wrap your print
  • Fabric colour
  • Background colour

How to use the Hat Mockup

  1. Save your print as a PNG with a transparent background.
  2. Open the file in Photoshop and double-click the smart object thumbnail in the Layers panel.
  3. Paste your design, resize it to fill the area, then save (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close that tab.
  4. Save a JPG for clients and social media, and keep the PSD for later changes.

Another tip: caps show logos small and curved; a simplified version of the mark reads much better than the full logo.

Questions about this mockup

Is it free for commercial use?

That depends on the author's terms. The download page lists what is allowed; when in doubt, ask the author directly.

How do I put my artwork on the cap?

Find the smart object layer (it has a small icon on its thumbnail), double-click it, place your design, then save and close that tab.

Which Photoshop version do I need?

A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.

Does the print follow the fabric folds?

Better apparel mockups use a displacement map or warp so the print follows the wrinkles. Check the preview: if the folds show through the logo, it does.

Why does the download open another website?

We list free files from designers around the web and link to the original page, so Free PSD Templates gets the visit and you get the file exactly as they published it.
