Product packaging looks better on a kraft cardboard box mockup than on a white artboard, and this mockup is set up for exactly that.
Useful for subscription box companies as much as for packaging designers. A small tip: build the label or dieline flat first, then place it; bending text inside the mockup is harder to fix later.
A realistic render saves a round of physical samples, which for packaging can take weeks.
Pixeden created this one and hosts the download on their own site, so you always get the latest version straight from the source.
What’s inside the Kraft Cardboard Box Mockup PSD
Open it in Photoshop and you can change:
- Label or box artwork, placed through the smart object
- Base colour of the pack
- Gloss and highlight layers
How to use the Kraft Cardboard Box Mockup
- Finish the label first, with barcode and small print in place.
- In the Layers panel, find the layer with the small smart object icon and double-click it.
- Drop your artwork in, fit it to the canvas, save and close. The mockup updates by itself.
- Turn the highlight layer down if it washes out your logo.
- Save a JPG for clients and social media, and keep the PSD for later changes.
Glossy packaging picks up highlights over your art; reduce the highlight layer if your logo gets washed out.

Questions about this mockup
Is it free for commercial use?
That depends on the author's terms. The download page lists what is allowed; when in doubt, ask the author directly.
How do I put my artwork on the box?
Find the smart object layer (it has a small icon on its thumbnail), double-click it, place your design, then save and close that tab.
Which Photoshop version do I need?
A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.
Is the design wrapped around the shape?
Round packs usually use warp or displacement so the label bends with the shape. Flat boxes use separate smart objects for each visible side.
