Here’s a top view box mockup that works well for product packaging, a gift box design and similar projects.

Good pick for e-commerce brands, packaging designers or anyone putting together a portfolio. A small tip: glossy packaging picks up highlights over your art; reduce the highlight layer if your logo gets washed out.

It’s also handy for crowdfunding pages and pitch decks, when the product exists but the packaging hasn’t been printed yet. A matching label or sticker mockup rounds out the set.

Anthony Boyd Graphics created this one and hosts the download on their own site, so you always get the latest version straight from the source.

What’s inside the Top View Box Mockup PSD

Open it in Photoshop and you can change:

  • Label or box artwork, placed through the smart object
  • Shadows
  • Background colour
  • Base colour of the pack

How to edit this Top View Box Mockup in Photoshop

  1. Export each side of the pack as its own image if the file has separate smart objects.
  2. Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
  3. Paste your design, resize it to fill the area, then save (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close that tab.
  4. Save a JPG for clients and social media, and keep the PSD for later changes.

One more thing: render two colour versions side by side. Clients choose faster when they compare.

Where the Top View Box Mockup works best

  • Show a mailer box on your online shop or product page.
  • Show product packaging to a client before it goes to print or production.
  • Present a gift box design in a client proposal or brand guide.

Quick notes on this mockup

  • Made by Anthony Boyd Graphics. The download size and format are listed on their page.
  • The preview shows the angle, background and lighting you’ll get.
  • Some free mockups ask for credit when you post them. A short line in your caption is enough.
  • Check the smart object size before you design, so your artwork fits without stretching.

Questions about this mockup

Is it free for commercial use?

It's free to download, but the licence belongs to Anthony Boyd Graphics. Check their page: it states whether commercial use is allowed and if attribution is needed.

How do I add my design?

Open the file in Photoshop, double-click the smart object thumbnail, paste or place your artwork in the new tab, save it (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close. The main file updates on its own.

Which Photoshop version do I need?

A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.

Can I change the packaging colour?

Usually yes. There is normally a colour layer under the design smart object, so you can change the base colour without touching your artwork.
