Vinyl Record Mockup

What's inside

  • Applications Photoshop
  • File Types PSD
  • License Free (see author's terms)
  • Author Mockup Cloud

If you’re presenting an album cover, this vinyl record mockup makes the idea feel real before anything is produced.

Musicians and cover artists tend to get the most out of files like this. A small tip: album art is usually seen as a small square online first; check that it still reads at thumbnail size.

It’s also handy for crowdfunding pages and pitch decks, when the product exists but the packaging hasn’t been printed yet. Show it with a shipping box or bag from the same range to present the whole unboxing.

Mockup Cloud created this one and hosts the download on their own site, so you always get the latest version straight from the source.

What’s inside the Vinyl Record Mockup PSD

The PSD is layered, so you can change:

  • Label or box artwork, placed through the smart object
  • Background colour
  • Gloss and highlight layers
  • Base colour of the pack

How to edit this Vinyl Record Mockup in Photoshop

  1. Export each side of the pack as its own image if the file has separate smart objects.
  2. Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
  3. Place your design, hide the sample artwork, save, and go back to the main file.
  4. Export a full-size image for your portfolio and a smaller one for social media.

One more thing: render two colour versions side by side. Clients choose faster when they compare.

Where the Vinyl Record Mockup works best

  • Make two or three colour versions of a vinyl sleeve and let the client pick.
  • Show a CD case insert on your online shop or product page.
  • Show an album cover to a client before it goes to print or production.

Before you download

  • Made by Mockup Cloud. The download size and format are listed on their page.
  • Check the smart object size before you design, so your artwork fits without stretching.
  • Built for Adobe Photoshop. A recent CC version handles the smart objects best.

Questions about this mockup

What licence does it come with?

It's free to download, but the licence belongs to Mockup Cloud. Check their page: it states whether commercial use is allowed and if attribution is needed.

How do I add my design?

Open the file in Photoshop, double-click the smart object thumbnail, paste or place your artwork in the new tab, save it (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close. The main file updates on its own.

Do I need Photoshop?

Yes. This is a PSD mockup built with smart objects, so you edit it in Adobe Photoshop. Any recent CC version works.

Can I change the packaging colour?

Usually yes. There is normally a colour layer under the design smart object, so you can change the base colour without touching your artwork.
