A fabric swatch mockup, made for presenting a surface design. Drop in your artwork and the lighting and shadows stay as they are.
Good pick for surface pattern designers, fashion brands or anyone putting together a portfolio. One thing worth knowing: place the design as a flat PNG with a transparent background, then let the fabric displacement do the folds.
It’s also useful before a print run, to check how large the design should really be on the garment.
The file is made by Mockups Design. The download button takes you to their page, where you get the original file and the licence details.
Editable options in the Fabric Swatch Mockup PSD
Open it in Photoshop and you can change:
- Print design, placed through the smart object
- Shadows and highlights
- Fabric colour
How to edit this Fabric Swatch Mockup in Photoshop
- Prepare the graphic flat, without shadows or fake texture. The mockup adds those.
- In the Layers panel, find the layer with the small smart object icon and double-click it.
- Place your design, hide the sample artwork, save, and go back to the main file.
- Try a light and a dark fabric to see which suits the print.
- Save a JPG for clients and social media, and keep the PSD for later changes.
Another tip: if the print looks too sharp, a very slight blur (0.3 px) makes it sit into the fabric.

Questions about this mockup
What licence does it come with?
It's free to download, but the licence belongs to Mockups Design. Check their page: it states whether commercial use is allowed and if attribution is needed.
How do I put my artwork on the fabric?
Find the smart object layer (it has a small icon on its thumbnail), double-click it, place your design, then save and close that tab.
Which Photoshop version do I need?
A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.
Can I change the fabric colour?
Almost every apparel mockup has a colour fill or adjustment layer for the garment. Double-click its thumbnail and pick your colour.
