What's inside

  • Applications Photoshop
  • File Types PSD
  • License Free (see author's terms)
  • Author Pixpine

If you’re presenting an ID badge, this ID card mockup makes the idea feel real before anything is produced.

Useful for corporate designers as much as for fintech brands. Export your artwork at the size the smart object asks for; scaling a small file up is the usual reason print mockups look soft.

Seeing a layout on a real card is also the easiest way to catch problems early. A phone number that looked fine on screen can turn out too small once it sits on paper. If you’re building a full identity, pair it with an envelope or letterhead mockup for a matching set.

Works well for

  • An ID badge
  • A bank or gift card
  • A membership card

The file is made by Pixpine. The download button takes you to their page, where you get the original file and the licence details.

Editable options in the ID Card Mockups PSD

Open it in Photoshop and you can change:

  • Your design, placed through the smart object
  • Shadows and highlights on their own layers
  • Front and back artwork, where both sides are shown

Add your design to the ID Card Mockups

  1. Set up the design flat at the real print size and keep text inside a safe margin.
  2. Open the PSD in Photoshop and find the smart object layer, usually named “Your Design” or “Place Here”.
  3. Paste your design, resize it to fill the area, then save (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close that tab.
  4. Turn the texture layer up or down to match the paper you’ll print on.
  5. Save a JPG for clients and social media, and keep the PSD for later changes.

Another tip: if the paper has texture, drop the opacity of your art by a few percent so the grain shows through.

Questions about this mockup

What licence does it come with?

Pixpine sets the licence, and it can differ from file to file. Many free files allow personal and commercial use, but some are personal-only or ask for credit. Read the terms on the download page before a paid project.

How do I add my design?

Open the file in Photoshop, double-click the smart object thumbnail, paste or place your artwork in the new tab, save it (Ctrl/Cmd + S) and close. The main file updates on its own.

Which Photoshop version do I need?

A recent Photoshop CC version is best. Older versions can open the file but sometimes have trouble with smart objects and effects.

Will my artwork look printed or pasted on?

Most print mockups keep the paper texture and lighting on separate layers above your design, so it takes on the grain and shadows. If it still looks too clean, lower the opacity of your artwork a little.
